The 2025 Chandler CCR lists arsenic 1.40 to 9.50 ppb, TTHM averaging 59 ppb with samples to 77, HAA5 averaging 12.28 ppb, and hardness of 10.1 to 16.8 grains. All of it met federal limits.

Pecos Water Treatment Plant

Treats Salt River, Verde River, Central Arizona Project (Colorado River) and SRP well water delivered via the Consolidated Canal. This is the blended surface-water plant, and the reason disinfection byproducts show up in the report.

Twenty-seven groundwater wells

Aquifers underlying Chandler, chlorinated before they enter the distribution system. Two of Chandler's drinking water wells carried a high source-water-assessment risk in the CCR's narrative — a land-use designation, not a finding that those wells are contaminated. Wells are the arsenic wild card.

Santan Vista, jointly owned with Gilbert

A second surface-water plant treating Colorado River water. Joint ownership is why a Chandler address and a Gilbert address can share a treatment story without sharing a utility, a PWS ID or a CCR.

What the 2025 report actually says

Federal MCLs are fixed. The ranges are from the City of Chandler 2025 Drinking Water Quality CCR for PWS AZ04-07-090. A later CCR supersedes them.

Arsenic — closest to the limit in this batch

Federal MCL 10 ppb. The 2025 Chandler report lists a high of 9.50 ppb and a range of 1.40 to 9.50 ppb (sampled May 2025). That is still a compliant system, and it is the tightest arsenic margin of the East Valley reports we cited this week. Reverse osmosis is the residential treatment; a carbon pitcher is not.

Total trihalomethanes (TTHM)

Federal MCL 80 ppb. The 2025 report lists a running annual average of 59.00 ppb and a sample range of 2.3 to 77.0 ppb (April 2025). Individual samples can sit near the limit while the average remains in compliance — which is exactly why a citywide average is not a tap reading. Activated carbon addresses TTHM; a softener does not.

Haloacetic acids (HAA5)

Federal MCL 60 ppb. The 2025 report lists a running annual average of 12.28 ppb and a range of less than 2.0 to 15 ppb (July 2025). Present, well below the limit, and still the matching job for carbon.

Chromium, nitrate, uranium

Total chromium: high 21.0 ppb, range less than 0.9 to 21, MCL 100 (January 2025). Nitrate: high 6.8 ppm, range 0.26 to 6.8, MCL 10 (April 2025). Uranium: high 6.8 ug/L, range 1.20 to 6.8, MCL 30 (January 2025). Dissolved inorganics. Reverse osmosis is the residential option where a tap test supports it.

Hardness

The 2025 report lists total hardness at 173 to 288 mg/L, or 10.1 to 16.8 grains per gallon. That is the spotting, scaling and water-heater story. An ion-exchange softener is the matching treatment. It is not a health contaminant and it is not federally regulated.

Compliance is based on the average, which is why a single high sample is not a violation and also not a reason to ignore the byproduct question.
