Frequently Asked Questions
What Seamless Home does, who it serves, how financing and materials work, and who is accountable for what. Direct answers, and links to the longer version where there is one.
What is Seamless Home, in one paragraph?
Seamless Home is a licensed contractor. It stands between the companies that sell home services and the crews that install them, and it owns the work between a signed contract and a producing system: financing on its own paper, material procurement through Direct Pay with no upfront working capital required, design, permitting and engineering, installation performed by installing partners engaged as its subcontractors, and project management from sale to completion.
It exists so that organisations which close contracts do not also have to build an installation, procurement and back-office operation to deliver them. Coverage is confirmed per service area rather than promised as blanket availability.
Questions and answers
What is Seamless Home?+
Seamless Home is a licensed contractor for residential solar and home-services businesses. It stands between the companies that sell home services and the crews that install them, and it owns the work between a signed contract and a producing system: design, permits, interconnection and inspections. Financing runs on its own paper, installing partners are engaged as its subcontractors, and materials are procured through Direct Pay with no upfront working capital required. It exists so that organisations which close contracts do not also have to build an installation, procurement and back-office operation to deliver them. Coverage is confirmed per service area rather than promised as blanket availability.
Who does Seamless Home work with?+
Three business types. Sales organisations that close residential deals but do not install. Installing dealers that want steady deal flow and materials without fronting working capital. And EPCs that want financing, procurement and back-office support alongside their own engineering and construction capability. The offering is the same underlying fulfillment layer; which parts of it a partner uses depends on what they already do in-house.
Does Seamless Home install the systems?+
Closed deals are routed to installing partners in the Seamless Home network, and the licensed installing contractor on a given project is the contractor of record. The party that pulls the permit and carries legal accountability for the installation. Design, engineering, permitting, procurement and project management run as inside operations alongside that. Which entity is the contractor of record on a specific project is a question worth asking directly and getting a specific answer to.
What is Direct Pay?+
Direct Pay is the material procurement arrangement: project materials supplied at discounted cost with no upfront working capital required from the partner. It matters because material is the largest and earliest cash outflow on a residential solar deal. It is paid when the order is placed at Notice to Proceed, while funding does not arrive until milestone draws are released. Removing that outflow shortens the cash conversion cycle more than any realistic improvement in lender remittance timing.
Which lenders can Seamless Home place financing with?+
Seamless Home works with a multi-lender panel covering third-party ownership, loan and sell-on-our-paper structures, rather than being tied to a single funding source. Being able to place a deal with the product that fits the homeowner, instead of the only product available, is what changes approval rates and what a deal actually yields. The current panel is confirmed on request rather than published as a fixed list, because lender rosters in this sector change.
Where does Seamless Home operate?+
Coverage is confirmed per service area rather than promised as blanket availability. Contractor licensing is state-specific, installer capacity is regional, and utility interconnection processes vary by territory: so a specific answer for a specific market is more useful than a general claim, and any provider offering unqualified universal availability is worth asking more questions of. Tell us the markets you sell in and we will tell you what is confirmed there.
How does a deal actually move through Seamless Home?+
A signed deal goes through a site survey, then engineering produces a buildable design and a stamped plan set. The deal clears Notice to Proceed once the contract, design, financing and eligibility conditions are all satisfied, at which point materials are ordered and a crew is scheduled. The permit is submitted to the authority having jurisdiction while the interconnection application runs in parallel with the utility. After installation come final inspection, correction clearing if needed, and utility close-out ending in permission to operate.
What does Seamless Home cost?+
Pricing depends on which parts of the fulfillment layer a partner uses, deal volume and market. The comparison that matters is not a per-service price but total cost per completed project: including the working capital you currently commit to materials, the overhead of an in-house back office, and the cost of deals that stall or fall out. The in-house versus outsourced calculator models that trade directly.
Is there a demo I can book?+
There is no self-serve demo booking. Every enquiry goes through the contact form, and the conversation starts with your markets, your volume and which parts of fulfillment you currently run in-house, because the useful answer depends on all three.
What is SubcontractorHub's relationship to Seamless Home?+
SubcontractorHub is a sister product built by the same team, and its CRM is the internal customer-management layer Seamless Home runs on. They are separate products serving different needs, SubcontractorHub is contractor software, Seamless Home is fulfillment.
Who is responsible if something goes wrong after installation?+
It depends which obligation is engaged, and they are owed by different parties. Module and inverter faults fall under manufacturer warranties. Installation issues, mounting, penetrations, roof integrity at those penetrations, wiring, fall under the installing contractor's workmanship warranty. Anything requiring a permit or an inspection sits with the contractor of record. The practical step before an incident is to establish which legal entity owes each of these, because a warranty is worth the durability of the company behind it.
Can Seamless Home help with HVAC and roofing as well as solar?+
Solar is the flagship vertical and HVAC and roofing are also in scope under residential home services, with the same underlying offerings: financing, Direct Pay materials, installer connections and project management. As with solar, coverage is confirmed per service area rather than promised as blanket availability.
Questions worth asking any fulfillment provider
Including us. These are the questions whose answers actually differentiate providers, as opposed to the capability lists that all read identically.
- Which legal entity will be the contractor of record, and whose licence is the permit pulled under? Why this is the first question.
- Who owes the workmanship warranty, for how long, and what happens to that obligation if the entity is acquired or stops trading? Warranty accountability.
- What are your Notice to Proceed criteria, and what is your median and worst-case time from signature to NTP? What NTP is.
- What is your first-pass permit approval rate, and who responds to plan review comments? Why applications get rejected.
- Who submits the signed inspection approval back to the utility? The jurisdiction usually will not forward it, and this single handoff is why finished systems sit unenergized. PTO checklist.
- Who fronts material cost, and when does it have to be repaid relative to funding? Model the cash gap.
- What are the service areas, specifically, not generally? Treat an unqualified claim of universal availability as a reason to ask more questions.
